Flash Mob Terrorizes Shopping Mall In Brooklyn
A flash mob of hundreds of teenagers converged on the Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Thursday night, which reportedly even included the “knockout game” and one person spotted with a gun. Cell phone video (see embed above) captured two teenage girls brawling with each other during the mall violence.
The melee at the mall was allegedly organized via social media. “More than 400 crazed teens grabbed and smashed jars of candy, stole cheap items such as baby balloons and beat up security guards at Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., merchants said. A violent game of ‘Knockout’ also broke out on the upper level of the mall — and one teen may have been carrying a gun, sources said. The teens used social media to plan the mass looting, vowing to put the mall ‘on tilt’ — or to raid it, according to posts on Facebook and Twitter. Clerks, who scrambled to close up their shops, said they were terrified.”
One store employee told the New York Post that “I’ve been here seven years and I have never seen anything like this before — I’m so scared. I know they will come back.”
NYPD officials denied that “there was a riot, any injuries, or significant damage,” however. Police who responded to the scene and cleared the mall made no arrests. The chaos prompted mall management to implement a new policy banning minors from entering the mall unless escorted by an adult.
The Brooklyn Kings Plaza mall brawl incident is still under investigation. “Police sources aren’t sure why the teens brought violence and mayhem the mall, but it’s believed that the kids incorrectly expected a performance by suddenly relevant rapper Fabolous.” Another explanation for the violence was that “A large group of teen girls reportedly fought each other over [an] incendiary t-shirt.”
